The Highest Level of Piano Artistry

An incredibly high level of woodworking skill and overall craftsmanship is evident in every Art Case Steinway Piano. Luxurious woods and detailed hand carvings speak of elegance and an uncommonly superior standard of work. Amazingly, many of the exotic woods and heavily carved details found on these instruments’ furniture were considered to be standard during the ‘golden era’ of piano manufacturing! Today, they are anything but that. Art Case pianos represent the finest in old-world craftsmanship. Fine veneers of flamed Mahogany, figured Rosewood and rich Circassian Walnut were plentiful to the growing industry. Steinway actually considered the use of Brazilian Rosewood on their cabinets ‘regular’ until 1890! [You cannot even purchase a new Steinway in Brazilian Rosewood today. The quality of ‘golden era’ materials is one reason purchasing a used Steinway piano is a preferred option for many.] The sense of history, methodical craftsmanship, and beauty of each Art Case Steinway is simply unmatched. Steinway and other historic piano makers labored to make each Art Case grand piano a signature piece,  worthy of their family name. Every wood veneer has its own special quality, every piano its own unique visual and acoustic voice.

Our time-honed piano rebuilding process is extensive and goes well beyond the simple swapping of parts and a quick cabinet refinish. Our restored Art Case pianos are much more than mere visual showpieces. We spend many extra hours beyond the industry norm going over every detail – especially in the action and tone restoration and regulation/voicing processes. This is to ensure each piano produces a quick, responsive touch and a quality of tone only a Steinway can produce.
