Description
1927 Steinway & Sons Model L Grand Piano #256602 | Satin Ebony – Fully Rebuilt
The Steinway & Sons Model L Grand Piano was first introduced in 1925. The replacement for the very similar Steinway Model O, the Model L was a New York Factory specialty from 1925 to 2005. Boosting a squared off tail design for additional soundboard area, the Model L is a common and welcome sight in both institutional and home settings.
Steinway Model L #256602 was selected by us out of a home environment in the state of California. Upon inspection of this piano, we found that the original factory soundboard and pin block to be in phenomenal condition. The original soundboard was sealed and refinished. The cast iron plate, the backbone of the piano, was carefully re-bronzed and the raised plate lettering hand detailed. New premium Mapes music wire and custom Mapes copper wound bass strings were hand coiled to blued German Klinke tuning pins.
Fully rebuilt with all new parts, including new hammers, shanks, flanges and wippens, the action is fully capable of supporting the highest level of musical artistry. Expert action regulation and tone regulation (voicing) followed to ensure the very finest touch and tone. The action was weighed off to concert specifications. We spend many extra hours beyond the industry norm to bring each of our rebuilt pianos up to the highest performance standard. This has resulted in a piano that boasts a rich, full bass tone coupled with a clear, singing treble.
Last but not least, the cabinet of the piano has been expertly refinished in a closed pore, hand rubbed nitrocellulose instrument lacquer. This ebonized, full filled finish is hand rubbed to the preferred level of sheen. The original nickel hardware has been replated and a matching fallboard decal affixed to the front. This piano stands as a stunning combination of both visual and acoustic beauty. Interested in learning more about this piano and our fine restoration work?
