1924 Steinway & Sons Model A, Style III Grand Piano #259972  – Undergoing Restoration @ Chupp’s Piano Service, Inc.

The Steinway & Sons Model A continues to be one of the most preferred models offered by the legendary Steinway & Sons Piano Company. First introduced for sale in 1878, the Model A has undergone several design changes and adjustments throughout its long life. The Model A-III ‘Stretch A’ is (in our opinion) one of the finest they ever produced. Measuring approx. 6′ 4 1/2″ in length, the Model A, Style III is longer than the Model A, Style II that is currently manufactured.

Crafted for only a select number of years during the ‘golden age’ of piano manufacturing, this piano is a powerful, yet equally delicate instrument. When rebuilt, properly regulated, and voiced, these powerful pianos are on par with even the best Steinway Model B Grands. Chupp’s Piano Service, Inc. is pleased to offer a selection of premium restored Steinway & Sons pianos – and this includes a number of Model A parlor grands. Our extensive regulation and voicing process brings out the best that these iconic instruments can be and ensures a true Steinway level of tone and touch.

Currently undergoing restoration, this piano’s action will been fully rebuilt with new, highest-quality parts. This includes new German Renner wippens, and new hammers mounted on new shanks, and flanges. An inspection of the piano will conclude whether to install a new damper back action or restore the existing components. The action will be fully regulated and voiced by our technicians. New premium music wire and custom copper wound bass strings will compliment blued Klinke tuning pins. A new custom-fitted pinblock made of hard rock maple coupled with a new solid spruce soundboard will ensure stability and quality of tone.
