Description
Steinway & Sons Model L Grand Piano | Santos Rosewood – Crown Jewel
Manufactured in the New York Steinway & Sons Factory, Steinway Model L #555900 measures just under six feet in length. The Model L scale design came into production at the New York Factory in 1924 as a modification of the existing Model O. The Model L continued in production until 2005, when its predecessor the Model O, made its return to the New York lineup. The Model L/O Grand Pianos are some of the larger ‘baby’ style grand pianos built by Steinway and are among the most popular. This particular piano was built as a part of Steinway & Sons’ Crown Jewel series of Art Case grand pianos. This special series of Steinways boast rare veneers and intricate cabinet workings.Steinway Model L #555900 is veneered in a rich cut of figured Santos Rosewood. This wood boasts dark, black striping, swirled throughout varying shades of almost three-dimensional browns. The cabinet has been expertly refinished to bring out the rich vibrance of the rare veneer. The instrument features a specially attached 150-year badge celebrating the then-upcoming anniversary in 2003. Accented by solid brass hardware, this art case piano is a feast for both the eyes and the ears! The original Steinway Factory spruce soundboard is in pristine, like-new condition. The original hard-maple pinblock holds the nickel-plated tuning pins tightly for a stable tune. The piano’s action features the original factory action parts. It has been fully regulated and voiced by our expert piano technicians. We spend many extra hours on the essential steps of action regulation and voicing to ensure the most responsive touch and a full ‘Steinway’ quality of tone.
Today, a new Model O in Santos Rosewood retails for $121,000.00! A rare combination of exotic materials and historic craftsmanship, this beautiful musical instrument awaits your appointment at our New Paris, Indiana Rebuilding Facility, and Showroom.
