Here is the story of a Steinway Restoration
Most of the pianos that we rebuild and restore here at Chupp’s Piano Service have been well taken care of over the years. However, every now and then we receive a project that allows us to utilize the full range of our piano rebuilding skills. This Steinway piano restoration is one of the most extensive we have ever undertaken. This Steinway grand piano was sitting on its side in a garage for over 20 years. The piano’s structure was still sound, however, the years of neglect had taken its toll. It had been purchased by a technician who planned to eventually rebuild it. But like many well-laid plans, this never came to fruition.
We were tasked with the job of fully restoring this nearly 100-year-old Steinway & Sons instrument to like new condition. When we first examined the piano we found that it would require perhaps the most extensive restoration work we have ever done. From cosmetic damage on the cabinet to action replacement to the final refinishing, this piano needed a lot of care and expert work to return it to its former glory.
